Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) more popularly known as her professional surname Ari Lennox is an American music producer and performer from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be contracted to J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. Her first EP, Pho which was released on 21 October 2016 was released via Dreamville Records. She began to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It came out in May of 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music via the internet in 2012 when she dropped her first mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. She continued to upload her music online in 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. Her music was also featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as in Sweat It Out on 21 July 2015. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's music references. In the following year, her music circulated throughout Dreamville. It was announced on December 8that she was made an agreement with Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. In the month of October she dropped her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance on behalf of J. Cole on his song Change in 2017 and also did a performance on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. She also appeared in the music videos Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus alongside Bas, her labelmates. Ari Lennox's debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th July of this year. The first single, called Whipped Cream, from the album was released on in September 5th, 2018, accompanied by a the music video. She released her second single called Grampa on the 9th of November. In November, she released 13 two singles that were titled"No One and pedigree. She performed with Cole in The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16and later she released the song on her own single to accompany her first album. In February of 2019 she released a music video released to accompany the track. It already has over three million viewers on YouTube within the first week. In December 2018, she performed as a supporting act on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
